Learning Piano Chords Easy

Now there are a lot of Piano training courses out there that you can learn from... Most costing anywhere from $100-$500. My goal here is to point you to the best one in terms of price and quality.

I've been a producer to 6-7 years now (not to long but long enough). I've done projects for all sorts of events and clients

Defjam

Ea Sports

MTV & MTV2

Midway Games

UPN

One thing that frustrated me was my inability to play keys. Granted that never stopped me from getting products complete. Most of the time I'd end up hiring a play or fiddling around on the keyboard until I figured things out (which can take hours). There were a lot of good keyboard players in our sessions but most of them were either too busy to teach or simply just didn't want to because... I mean if I could do it myself I wouldn't be hiring them right? So they wanted to keep their gigs obviously which I completely understood.

I tired taking some classes at a local college but that got in the way of my music projects so I end up dropping out. I needed something I could do when I needed/had to to. Books are ok but they didn't cut the mustard. There were either too vague or they didn't answer the questions I needed to be answered.

One summer I was actually able to get a personal trainer/instructor you know how much it cost it me? $100.00 an hour I mean the guy was good! Very very talented but he was a horrible instructor. He couldn't put things in laymen easy understandable terms for me to understand. Not to mention he had his session book back to back so there was very little room for questions or anything and he was always looking at his watch making sure we were not going over time because he had another 2 -3 students after me. Long story short I end up paying $2,000 out of pocket and learn nada except A,B,C,D,E,F,G, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and some other crap songs that were taught in books that you can buy at the store for $14.00

So what did i end up doing? .... well I just kept fiddling on the keyboard figuring thing out on my own and shadowing the sessions players and taking notes on what I watch them do... I even stole ... yes stole project files from the study so I can see what chords were being played. Everytime I saw a new chord I wrote it down on a piece of paper and later transfered them to a dry erase board so that I could rearrange the chords. This was a good out for me but I still didn't understand why the chords worked or how they were formed or why they were played in the order they were played. So I was still very limited in my keyboard playing ability.

So what did I do? Well about a year ago I began searching online for free training tutorials.

Google

Youtube

Craigslist

There is a lot of free information out there but its so scattered I didn't have the time to filter through it all. So i picked up a few courses online. I felt most of them were rip offs. You know the ones with the long sales letter promising this and that blah blah. Most of that crap is recycled garb I found online for free or it was just... to complicated. I end up spending $1326.45 before I found a training course that actually worked!

I didn't know how to control myself. I mean these guys taught me exactly what I wanted to know and within a few hours I was able to play and produce music that you'd hear coming from Angie Stone, Alicia Keys and every other R&B/ Neo Soul production based music out there. These guys had my background they were producers that knew nothing (at 1st) but were furtunated to have instructors that would show them exactly how to do what they needed with zero BS.

The best part is the video training course was CHEAP I'm talking less than $60.00. I was able to pop the disc in anytime i needed to go back over something. Not only did they teach you the theory (easy0 but they demonstrated it with banging Urban tracks! So you not only saw the chords but they showed you how to produce the rest of the music around the chords and mix all in one training package.

After going through the training course I was able to make music a lot fast. i was also able to hear music and pretty much know where to go on the keyboard to replay or get the same feel they had. I just wish I could have ran into this training course 5 years ago... It would have made things soo much easier for me. Couple weeks ago I went through all my emails hunting for contact info I had never got a chance to thank them. Turns out they have other training materials out there from techno, blues, jazz, hiphop etc and they have their course online there is a Vol 2 to the training course I have and they gave it to me free (I was willing to pay for it) because they are now selling Vol 1 and 2 on a 2 for 1 deal.

For those of you interested in this training course go here Piano Chord Progressions when you place your order tell them Chris sent ya cha and they will give you a list of companies that will license your music FREE.

Really inspirational hub right there. I went to the site you mentioned and ordered the training course. Very informative I'm surprised he's selling his lessons for such a cheap price. I tried learning from a session player a few years ago at a studio and they were talking about $30.00 an Hour. This course here you can watch over and over and over again... thank you soo much

For serious producers only? How about someone who just wants to learn chords and improvise a bit? Being a great pianist isn't my goal.

"For serious producers only"

i'm sure that's just something the company has in their copy. The course is actually easy to follow... I don't think you have to be a serious producer to get their course.. as they mention they can teach any level and most beginners are not very serious

I gave my daughter the dvd and she's 12, she was able to pick it fairly quickly... so if you're looking to learn some chords and scales just to improvise then yes it would be a good course for you contact the site owner
